Mark Boulton’s New Book

So, I decided to cheap out and buy a PDF version of a book instead of buying the real thing. I’ve never done this before. Maybe I just didn’t want to deal with the book being shipped from the UK….Maybe it was that I wanted to save $15…Regardless, it totally was not worth it.

Reading a PDF book in Acrobat or Preview on the Mac is a royale pain in the ass with cheese. The book that I am referring to is Mark Boulton’s “A Practical Guide To Designing For The Web”. I’m about halfway through it, after zooming and scaling the damn PDF with my laptop before I go to bed.

If you’re a newbie or an old school table-based master of web design, this book will guide you through the conventions of starting a web site from scratch, understanding fonts and colors, grid systems, budgeting, and how to go from working a day job that you hate into eventually running your own business.

Simple illustrations here and there support the chapters well, and the dialogue is conversational but not overloaded with ego or goofy asides. An excellent book, but get the print version!
