In A Nutshell

Hi, there! My name is Carl Franke. Born in Chestnut Hill, raised in Oreland, and educated at Kutztown University, I have always been within an hour drive of Philadelphia. So, Philadesigns came quite naturally.

I live in Fishtown with my wife, Melissa, who runs her own photography company.

Much of my time is spent experimenting with the latest techniques, particularly HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, mobile design, and responsive design.

I enjoy biking, writing and recording piano & synth intrumentals, cooking experiments, homebrewing, Netflix hours, and the Phillies.

Web Career

In 1999, I designed my first web site. I was working at Strongarm Designs as the one-man marketing team, and was given the opportunity to design the company’s first web site.

In 2000, I joined GMH Communities (now American Campus Communities) and was their sole Web Designer for over 6 years, designing multiple branch identities for student housing, commercial real estate, restaurants, local sports teams and more.

Throughout my career, I have taken on many freelance opportunities to keep my skills sharp & varied.

In 2007, I joined Campus Apartments, located in University City, as a Web Technology Specialist, and am currently employed there.
