Cochlea At Little Berlin Gallery
November 9th, 2008Below is some footage of "Cochlea", a large scale sound / construction installation, debuted this past First Friday at Little Berlin Gallery in Kensington. Created by Mikronesia and Mike Murray, this clip doesn’t do it justice at all. It’s an amazing interactive installation that will incite your curiosity. So, go check it out! Free and open to the public on Saturdays from Noon - 5:00 p.m.
Cochlea also included a performance by Pittsburgh’s Melissa St. Pierre who dazzled all with her prepared piano. Check out a clip below:

Review Of First Berries…
November 5th, 2008I often have a difficult time explaining what my music sounds like. But Sonic Curiosity, headed by Matt Howarth, really spelled it out beyond my expectations (and what I even knew it sounded like).
Sonic Curiosity, which reviews indie electronic albums, recently reviewed my album First Berries After Hibernation, released by earSnake this past summer. Check out the review!

Phillies Phishtown Celebration
November 1st, 2008On October 29th, 2008, I watched the Phillies win the World Series at Johnny Brendas in Fishtown. Below is some footage shot moments after the victory, when the tightly packed bar exploded with energy and everyone ran outside to make some noise. This was a great celebration in Fishtown with loads of fireworks, honking horns, non-stop high-fives,and just pure hilarity.
Does Vimeo look better?

Phillies Championship Parade
November 1st, 2008Here’s some footage of the Philadelphia Phillies Championship Parade on Broad Street. It was a beautiful day out, blue skies, mid-60s, and loads of fans everywhere. We started at 15th & Market Streets, which was an absolute nightmare. Descending down to Broad & Washington Streets made for a better view and a more fun crowd as well.
YouTube or Vimeo…Which one looks better?!

Morris Arboretum
October 25th, 2008In our expanding world tour of gardens, Melissa and I recently spent some time at the Morris Arboretum in Chestnut Hill, the part of Philly where I was born.
Yes, there’s trees at the Morris Arboretum. Big deal? Well, just go and check it out and then you’ll be all like, "Damn, those trees were amazing."
The Morris Arboretum is something that you can conquer in a little over 2 hours, and made for a nice walk. At times, it felt that we were the only ones there, but it was on a Friday, so I’m not sure what the weekends are like. Definitely very relaxing and less touristy than Longwood Gardens was, although it’s probably just 1/10 the size of LG.
Someone kept dumping leaves on Melissa’s head.
Melissa refreshes herself at a pump that served Red Bull. Weird, right?
We then walked around Chestnut Hill and acted like we could afford to freely shop there. We opted, instead, for pastries and coffee at Metropolitan Bakery after checking out the bears of ZOO 2.
This punk rock bear was my favorite of the bunch.

Do It For Steve Irwin!
October 24th, 2008Uggh, Game 2 of the World Series last night was torturous to watch. It was great to see Bruntlett score big and Ruiz be a hitting machine (?!), but damn, it was a tough one to watch.
What made it even more difficult to watch was that I tried out a new venue, The Urban Saloon, which was disastrously understaffed. The greasy burger that I got took forever to arrive, and was served on toast that wasn’t even qualified to be called Texas Toast. It was accompanied by about 12 undercooked fries. The Urban Saloon is massive, with a bar and many tables, multiple hi-def TVs, and a massive "back room" that looks like it should be used for a lame wedding reception.
Now we can only hope to win 3 games in a row and win the shebang in Philly! And, most importantly, they have to do it for Steve! When I saw this Photoshop creation (see below), and others like it floating around on the web, I lost my shit. Let all the Tampa Bay parents give their kids those dumbass mohawks and then dye it blue. We need to avenge the tragic death of Steve Irwin, a man destroyed by a Ray.

Longwood Gardens
October 17th, 2008Last week, Melissa and I went to Longwood Gardens, one of the most premier botanical gardens in the nation. Located in Kennett Square, PA, this is a great escape from the SEPTA fumes and litter strewn streets of Fishtown. We both needed this, and, damn, it was beautiful!
Just about an hour drive away from Philadelphia, Longwood Gardens is the Disney World of gardens — 1050 acres of woodlands, meadows, fountains, gardens, and additions added by previous owner Pierre S. du Pont, who saved the area from being used for lumber in 1906. For $16 a head, you get an exhausting variety of sections to take in, all mapped out and ready to explore. "Chimes Towers" was a highlight of mine. It’s a great deal. Do it!
Melissa gets lost in the meadow section of Longwood Gardens.
Every flower is labeled in Longwood Gardens, and I hardly remember anything. We particularly liked these flowers, called Dahlias.
My Fishtown backyard…Yeah, right…This is a mini-Versaille. I need a fountain in my yard at some point though.

Gemini Wolf At Johnny Brendas
September 29th, 2008Gemini Wolf performed at Johnny Brendas this past Friday night for a "Fun Razor" for Nexus Foundation.
The Wolf are back to their duo-based roots, but with loads more effects, sampling, and titillating electronic gadgetry. Below are two clips from the show.

Phillies N.L. East Champions!
September 28th, 2008Last night, I was at the Phillies game with Melissa to witness the Philadelphia Phillies win the 2008 N.L. East title at their 161st game of the year! What a stressful and close game! Moments after the double-play at the top of the 9th that ended the game, I shot some footage.
This is probably some of the WORST footage I’ve shot in my life, but I was so crazed and just wanted to take it all in. Excuse the shakiness! What a great time…At the end of the footage is little Leo DiCello, my friend Russ’s son. This was his FIRST game ever, and what a great first game for him to take in. Too bad he won’t remember any of it!
